Christ the Redeemer is located at the summit of Mount Corcovado in the port city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The statue of Christ the Redeemer was completed in 1931 and stands 98 feet (30 metres) tall, its horizontally outstretched arms spanning 92 feet (28 metres). The statue has become emblematic of both the city of Rio de Janeiro and the whole nation of Brazil.
Arrive at Rio/GaleĆ£o International Airport (GIG) and hail an Uber for 30 minutes to the ticket office (Bilheteria Corcovado) at the base of the mountain. From there you can take a 20-minute train ride or walk a 2-3 hour hike up to the base of the statue. Alternatively, you can take an official van from one of several locations around the city, such as Copacabana beach, which ends up being cheaper and faster than both the train and hike (but probably not as scenic). Upon arrival at the base, you have to climb several flights of stairs before the statue finally appears.
